Blades v Arsenal - Cup team news

Posted on: Tue 30 Oct 2007

Blades boss Bryan Robson is contemplating make a few changes when Arsenal arrive at Bramall Lane on Wednesday evening for the fourth round Carling Cup clash.

Gary Cahill and Phil Bardsley are cup tied from their Villa and Manchester United involvement, meaning Chris Morgan and Chris Lucketti come back into contention for starting berths.

Goalkeeper Paddy Kenny is still struggling with the knock he took at Leicester City, so it is likely Ian Bennett will continue between the sticks.

Robson said: "Paddy is still sore after last week and he also has some fluid around his knee, so we will have to wait until after he has seen a specialist.

"I don't want to be making too many changes, but my hand is forced a little with Gary and Phil cup tied."

The Gaffer acknowledges his squad is in for a tough test, regardless of the team Arsenal field at Bramall Lane.

He confirmed: "It will be a difficult game for us, but one the players and fans should enjoy; we have to be nice and bright and take the game to Arsenal in the opening exchanges."

In the Gunners camp, Nicklas Bendtner, Theo Walcott and Denilson are all expected to start, whilst Polish goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski is likely to play in goal with young Italian stopper Vito Mannone on the bench.
