Blades boss Bryan Robson wants his side to show their mettle on the road, starting against Leicester City at the Walkers Stadium on Tuesday night.
Robson feels United must improve their away form quickly to transfer some of the pressure mounting on the team in home matches.
He began: "We need to get a solid base away from home - if we start performing on the road it will take some pressure off us at Bramall Lane.
"We have to be resilient and believe in what we want to do. We have some good players here who are low in confidence at the moment."
The Gaffer was pleased with the defensive effort against Preston on Saturday, but is still well aware that there is room for improvement amongst his players.
Robson continued: "At times against Preston we passed the ball well and the defensive improvement was good. We were a bit unfortunate with the goal, although we dropped to deep.
"There is still a lot of work to do, but we must go to Leicester and be positive, whilst putting into practice, what we are working on in training."
The manager concluded by calling for all his players to help each other on the pitch and feels each individual has a responsibility to gee up their team-mates.
He ended: "Communication is important, because I feel we are a quiet team, its upto each individual to stamp their authority on the game and help their team-mates."
