Last time at the Lane

Posted on: Thu 18 Oct 2007

Injury-time strikes in both halves gave the Blades a well deserved victory against Preston North End at Bramall Lane in August 2005.

Neil Shipperley cancelled out Paul McKenna's opener in the dying stages of the first-half, and a Danny Webber strike moments before the full-time whistle secured all three points for United.

In the Preston ranks that day were Chris Lucketti and Claude Davis, who both played a part in the Blades Premiership campaign last season, before the latter moved on to Derby County in the summer.

Blades: Kenny, Bromby, Short, Morgan, Harley, Ifill (Gillespie 70), Montgomery, Jagielka, Tonge (Alan Quinn 74), Shipperley (Shaw 63), Webber
Unused: Barnes, Kozluk

Preston: Nash, Mears, Lucketti, Davis, Alexander, McKenna, O'Neil, Jones, Sedgwick (Anyinsah 75), Dichio (Agyemang 67), Nugent (Lewis Neal 82)
Unused: Mawene, Chris Neal
