Kevin McDonald has heaped praise on his midfield partner Michael Doyle as the Blades prepare for Saturday's FA Cup fourth round tie against Chris Hughton's Birmingham City.
McDonald has been instrumental in United's attractive style of play and success this term, but says his work is far greater than acting as a playmaker and he feels alongside the current skipper they complement each other perfectly:
"I have been asked to work harder in defensive areas this season and it is a responsibility I have relished. The Gaffer demands a lot from us but me and Doyley work hard for each other and the rest of the team.
"Doyley is a much better offensive player then he is given credit for, so it isn't just down to me to create chances for others and chip in with goals, because he is very capable, as he proved against Yeovil.
"Hopefully I can get amongst the goals soon, but I take a lot of pleasure from notching up the assists and the team winning is impetrative."
On Saturday's home tie against the Blues, McDonald commented: "It will be another tough game against Birmingham, who are flying in the Championship at the moment, but we are confident of giving anyone a run for their money.
"We have performed well in previous rounds and got the job done comfortably, but we will have to be at our best on Saturday to progress to round five."
