United's first three encounters in the npower Championship are of particular interest to Chris Morgan.
The Blades skipper has viewed the 2010/11 fixtures - released on Thursday morning - and believes the opening matches could be vital.
"I've had a browse at the fixtures on the website and the first three are nice and juicy," said Morgan. "It is a good early season test for us and we have to hit the ground running.
"Of course, Cardiff will still be smarting from the play-off final defeat, then we entertain QPR, who have Paddy Kenny and Neil Warnock, and then we travel to Middlesbrough, who will be one of the favourites for promotion.
"Sometimes you would rather play these games early in the season and I'm of that view. Hopefully a few good results will give us a footing to make a good start and show the rest of the division that we mean business."
He adds: "The fixtures are an interesting read, we are at home on Boxing Day for the first time in a few years and the Yorkshire derbies are quite spread, whilst last season it seemed that the games with Wednesday, Doncaster and Barnsley came in clusters."
Of the Carling Cup draw, in which United face a trip to Hartlepool in round one, Morgan added: "This competition always throws up games like this. We've played Chesterfield and Port Vale in previous years and they always prove to be difficult games."
