Quinny will be ready for pre-season

Posted on: Tue 11 May 2010

Midfielder Stephen Quinn will be fit for the start of the new season, despite missing the last game of the campaign through injury.

The Irishman, 24, missed the last day victory at Ipswich Town after being withdrawn against Swansea City due to an ingrown toe nail problem which has plagued him throughout the season.

"It has been causing me a bit of discomfort for most of the season," said Quinn, who made 48 appearances and scored four goals. "We had it looked at earlier in the season but when I was told that the operation was going to keep me out for between four and six weeks I decided to carry on and play through the pain with the help on injections."

He adds: "When we were finally out of play-off contention after the Sheffield Wednesday match we thought it would be best to go through the operation as soon as possible.

"It was a straight forward procedure, it's been two weeks and already it feels fine. An ingrown toe nail is not like a pulled muscle where there could be additional complications in the rehabilitation.

"I'm pretty sure I'll be fit to go through the tests that we have been set this month and next before we report back for pre-season in July."
