Lane swansong?

Posted on: Fri 07 May 2010

After finishing the season as the club's top scorer Richard Cresswell has confessed he would love to end his career at Bramall Lane.

The 32-year-old has enjoyed a dream first season in S2 since arriving from Stoke City in September and after ending the campaign with 14 goals, he agrees the move has exceeded his own expectations.

"I am really pleased to have finished as top scorer and any striker will tell you it means a lot to them personally.

"I came here and brought plenty of experience with me, but on a personal note it has gone fantastically well and I couldn't have asked for anymore really.

"The move here was for the right reasons. I took a wage cut to come and play regular first-team football so I am delighted it has worked out like it has.

"Hopefully I can finish my career with this club and that is something I want to sort out soon. I would be delighted to sit down and discuss that over the summer.

"I want to come back from the summer in great shape and pick up from where I left off, because after recovering from the broken ribs I have felt really fit and as sharp as ever."
