After playing a leading role in the 3-0 success at Portman Road, Mark Yeates says consistency is going to be the key to any promotion push next season.
Yeates, who started on the left, opened the scoring with a rasping drive and laid on goals for Ched Evans and Richard Cresswell, but the Irishman admitted the season as a whole will go down as a missed opportunity:
"We all wanted to end the season on a high and we certainly did that with a really good performance.
"When we play like that it is disappointing to think two or three results have cost us a play-off place so, of course, you have mixed emotion, but at least we signed off in style.
"We know we haven't performed in certain games but a lot of other teams around us will be saying the same, because this league is so tight.
"I suppose we haven't had the consistency and because the league is tough you have to make sure you grind a lot of results out - even when you probably aren't playing particularly well.
"The main thing, though, after missing out on the top six, was to finish well and now we must look forward to next season and try and hit the ground running."
