Goalkeeper's additional help

Posted on: Tue 23 Feb 2010

Mark Bunn says sports psychology has helped him banish his demons from earlier in the season and get his Blades career back on track.

Bunn, who is on loan United until the end of the season, was dropped by manager Kevin Blackwell in October after the 3-0 defeat at Blackpool.

However, the goalkeeper visited psychologist Laura Wolfenden, who has previously helped England goalkeeper Scott Carson, and has never looked back. He has since regained his best form and performed admirably in recent weeks:

"I had a rocky patch but I feel I am playing a lot better now thanks to the weekly sessions with Laura," Bunn revealed.

"We talk about the feelings I have on the pitch and how to block out nerves. It's also about coping before and after the game and not letting mistakes affect you. Some of the lads say it's not for them but you never know unless you try.

"She gives me advice, listens and tries to help you cope with different situations in the best way possible."
