Jordan Stewart is determined to make sure he plays a key role in United's push for promotion this season, and says the quality of the squad should mean that is a realistic possibility.
Stewart made his Blades debut against Doncaster prior to the international break and the versatile left-sided player says there is much more to come - wherever Kevin Blackwell decides to play him:
"Everybody wants to start every game although I knew coming here that there was competition for places.
"I have managed to get into the team and now it is up to me to make to make the most of this opportunity.
"My game is about giving 100% and then I try and use my athletic energy to get up and down the pitch, but first of all it is about defending.
"I know my job if I play at left-back and if the manager needs me to play in a more advanced role then I will try and create chances and score the odd goal.
"I scored a few at Derby and I always seem to find the net a few times each season so I am hoping that continues."
The Bramall Lane dressing-room is renowned for its level of banter and chit chat and Stewart feels he has the character to fit in.
The former Ram also knows that competition for places is fierce despite the recent plague of injuries and is confident United have what it takes to succeed:
"Coming into training is something I look forward to, there is a good crack and I believe in living life to the fullest everyday.
"There are some lads I have got to know from playing against them, whilst I know Hendo and Lee Williamson from my Watford days.
"We haven't got the biggest of squads but we have plenty of quality, although the Gaffer would probably still prefer a full squad to choose from.
"All the lads are desperate for promotion and that is the main aim this season.
"We need to get as many points on the board and the teams that put together the most runs of wins throughout the campaign will be the ones challenging for the honours."
