After regaining full fitness with the Blades, Jonathan Fortune says he is itching for first-team football and believes he can learn a lot from Chris Morgan and Matt Kilgallon.
Fortune recently signed a short-term deal at Bramall Lane after initially joining on trial over the summer and the powerful central defender is delighted to be over an injury plagued period of his career.
"I need to play matches to get that sharpness back into my game, the international break gives me time to catch up and I am certainly getting closer and closer everyday," said Fortune, who played a full 90 minutes for the reserves on Wednesday evening.
"I am looking to crack on fitness wise and get out there playing. I have been available for the last few matches, but after this break I will really be pushing.
"It has been a frustrating year or so through injuries and then minor setbacks have hampered my chances here, but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel now.
"There are no long-standing problems from the operation so it is just about getting the body to handle the intensity again and Dean Riddle is certainly putting me through my paces."
The former Charlton Athletic man feels he has joined a club with ambitions that match his own and he is hoping to compliment what he describes as the best central defensive partnership outside the top-flight:
"There is a great bunch of lads here and this club is pushing to get back into the Premiership. This season is a great chance to do just that.
"Morgs and Killa are two of the best defenders in this division and have been for a while now, but hopefully that will bring out the best in me too."
