Davies on debut

Posted on: Mon 21 Sep 2009

Friday's late move to sign Andrew Davies surprised a few, including the player himself.

The 24-year-old loan signing from Stoke made an instant winning debut, helping the Blades to a 3-2 success over Sheffield rivals Wednesday.

"I was told 48 hours before I signed that United were interested," said Davies, who will stay at Bramall Lane for three months. "I wanted to come, this is a great place - hopefully I can stay in the team and enjoy my time here.

"It was tough because I didn't know the lads but they seem a great set and made feel welcome in the dressing room. I've played against a lot of the United lads and I had no hesitation in joining a good team."

Of his debut against the Owls, Davies added: "There were a few nerves before the game but I really enjoyed it. The pace was electric, I haven't played a full 90 minutes for a long time but I settled down as the game went on. It was a fantastic night for everyone and I was pleased to play a part."
