After scoring on his return to Saltergate on Wednesday night, Jamie Ward believes the 2-0 victory indicates that the Blades pre-season preparations are shaping up nicely.
Ward converted United's second from the penalty spot, after being hauled down, and the striker is now hoping that things kick-on for the start of the season:
"My game is about energy and getting about the pitch, so in that respect I am coming on well. It has been frustrating with the games in Hungary getting cancelled, but we have to concentrate on what is in front of us.
"Everybody must continue to work hard and be ready come the Middlesbrough match. From a forwards point-of-view you need to be sharp and confident in front of goal."
The pint-sized marksman was pleased with the welcome he received from the Spireites faithful and admits there is an air of excitement around the squad at the moment, despite the recent outgoings at the Lane:
"The lads are obviously disappointed to see the Kyles leave, but we must move forward now, so good luck to them at Spurs.
"We are all excited about new players coming in and helping build on what already is a strong squad, so it will be a good challenge for the players already here.
"It was nice to go back to Saltergate and I was delighted that the fans gave me a nice reception."
