The abandonment of Saturday's mini-tournament in Hungary will not cause too many problems to United's pre-season preparations, believes Brian Howard.
United were due to face Hungarian top flight teams Ferencvaros and Zalaegerszegi in Budapest until a violent storm, including thunder lightening and rain, forced the event to be called off as the Blades players were getting ready for action.
Howard, who scored the only goal of the friendly at Malta earlier this month, was looking forward to the game before the weather intervened.
"It was my first trip to Hungary, I've enjoyed it apart from the game being off but we made up for it with an extra training session before we came home," said the midfielder.
"It would have been nice to get another game under our belts. Personally I feel good, I've worked hard during the summer and I've been up towards the front in the running - it's just a case of improving the sharpness now."
He adds: "It has been the first time I've done a pre-season with United, it's been different to what I'm used to but I've enjoyed it.
"It's good to get back to work, get fit and, hopefully, we can get a good start to get us on the right road."
Howard will be hoping to involved when United play a first pre-season friendly of the season on home soil at Chesterfield on Wednesday night.
