Skipper pleased with outcome

Posted on: Wed 03 Jun 2009

Chris Morgan believes it is vitally important that Kevin Blackwell has decided to stay in United's hot-seat.

The United skipper says United's playing staff were keeping an eye on the developments from Bramall Lane after last week's Play-Off Final defeat to Burnley.

Morgan said: "I touched on it last Monday, and said that it is vitally important that the Gaffer stays. I don't know whether it was hyped up by media or if there was something more in it, but everybody is pleased that he is staying. He and Sam (Ellis) have done a fantastic job since coming in last year."

Morgan adds: "The manager sat down with the Board and they both want the same thing - to have a good season and to get back into the Premier League. We must all get on with the job in hand to make sure that it happens.

"I'm sure the Board will back the Gaffer. They all know that we need to strengthen the squad and, hopefully, when we come back in July, we will all be ready to go and get the season started once again."
