Skipper looks ahead

Posted on: Tue 02 Jun 2009

"It's important to get back to a rational way of thinking as soon as possible," those are the comments of Chris Morgan, who is attempting to come to terms with the Play-Off Final defeat.

Like more than 36,000 Unitedites at Wembley, the Blades skipper was gutted with the 1-0 defeat to Burnley which saw the Lancashire club earn the last remaining place in the Premiership.

But now Morgan is quickly attempting to turn his attentions to the 2009/10 campaign when the Blades will again be pushing for Championship honours.

He said: "I've had a few days away and now the kids are back at school, I just needed the time to look back on the season gone by.

"It is important to get back to a rational way of thinking as soon as possible, everybody was so disappointed but that has to be left at Wembley and now we are thinking about next season - these next four weeks will pass by and then we will be running round the training ground again with Dean Riddle!

"The close-season goes too quickly when you are in the play-offs but what we must do now is get enough rest, use the time wisely and be ready to go when we start again next month."
