Yeates provides spark

Posted on: Mon 01 Mar 2010

Mark Yeates has won a host of admirers in his first few games with the Blades and shone on Saturday with an assured display and an assist for Henri Camara's opener.

The former Middlesbrough man alternated positions with Jamie Ward and both caused Plymouth problems, with Kevin Blackwell afterwards acknowledging:

"Mark can get the crowd excited because he is a creative midfield player who will get hold of the ball, try something and even if it doesn't work has the confidence to want the ball and try again.

"Now he has to work harder on other aspects of the game and on Saturday when I asked him for that at the interval he produced it.

"He is the sort who makes others want to play and we need somebody to introduce that bit of variety because on the first-half performance on Saturday we could beat any body in this division.

"It is important to get a happy medium into our play, as well as consistency in selection and I think that if Saturday's team play another 10-15 games together we will see a more cohesive product."
