Boss brings back Bunn

Posted on: Wed 30 Dec 2009

United have secured the loan of goalkeeper Mark Bunn until the end of the season, after an agreement was reached with Blackburn Rovers on Monday.

As part of the loan deal, Rovers boss Sam Allardyce will have the option of recalling the Bunn at 24 hours notice.

The 25-year-old stopper, who has started 19 games for the Blades already this season, will be eligible for United's FA Cup third round tie against QPR at Bramall Lane on Sunday, although Rovers do have a 24 hour recall option.

Bunn has been in fine form of late and has been in goal, as Kevin Blackwell's men have recorded four consecutive clean sheets at home - which included a fine penalty save from Bunn in the 1-0 success over Peterborough in November.

Kevin Blackwell said: "I have seen a massive improvement in Mark in the last few weeks. He had an injury, then lost form but he has come back well and look assured ever since.

"I am happy to have him here, not only for his capabilities but also because he is fit and gives us continuity. At least that is one part of the jigsaw in place, because to have to start again with a new goalkeeper and possibly a new centre-half would be a big backward step.

"Both Blackburn and ourselves want to see him keep improving, that is why he is here. Decision making in first team matches is crucial, it is not in the Reserves, and playing in the Championship for us is what he needs."
