Paddy a big miss

Posted on: Thu 19 Nov 2009

Kevin Blackwell has been unable to select what he regards as his best XI this season - and doesn't expect to do so.

Injuries and suspensions have been a major bind for the Blades boss this season, especially during the eight-match winless run of late.

"We've now not put the same team out for the last nine games," said Blackwell. "That's why I'm pleased we have had the international break so we can get some players back - if you get settled players you get settled results."

Lacking a key player in a certain area of his team has also been a major issue.

Blackwell adds: "I've not had the chance to put out what I consider to be my best team and I don't think I will be able to because Paddy Kenny won't be back until the end of the season.

"I've made it clear that I think Paddy is one of the best goalkeepers in the Championship and I think that's been proven because without him we are, in my eyes, seven or eight points behind where we should be.

"We've also been without Ward, Monty and Naysmith, and they are all players who you would say would be in our best XI."
