Travis headed for the Coast

Posted on: Mon 03 Aug 2009

Australian sister club, Central Coast Mariners, have confirmed the signing of United academy product Nicky Travis on a one-year deal.

"The Mariners are delighted to have finally reached this outcome," said Mariners Executive Chairman Lyall Gorman.

"Nicky is a fantastic young player and will bring a lot of experience with him, following his apprenticeship with our sister club Sheffield United. He has been developed at one of England's top clubs and I'm sure he will be a welcome addition to our squad for the Hyundai A-League 2009/10 season and beyond."

"His signing also proves how beneficial our link with Sheffield United is, and my thanks go to their chairman Kevin McCabe for the way he's handled negotiations at his end," said Gorman.

The Mariners Hyundai A-League 2009-10 campaign kicks off on Thursday when they take on Melbourne Victory at Etihad Stadium.
