Sun returns to China

Posted on: Mon 06 Jul 2009

The Blades have sanctioned the return to China of defender Sun Jihai for family reasons.

He joined United from Manchester City last summer and made a big initial impact but after losing his place through suspension found it difficult to dislodge the emerging Kyle Naughton.

Not wanting to stand in the Chinese International's way Kevin Blackwell said:

"We have allowed Sun to move back to China. Although his mum was over here he missed his family greatly and wanted his kids to be schooled over there.

"The situation made him slightly uncomfortable so I didn't want to keep him like that. He is a great professional and a good lad who taught the young lads quite a lot and we wish him all the best."

Sun Jiahi made fifteen league and cup starts plus two more as a substitute for United.
