Mixed International fortunes

Posted on: Thu 02 Apr 2009

It was a mixed night for United's internationals with two winning and two losing as the latest round of 2010 World Cup qualifiers took place on Wednesday night.

Gary Naysmith produced his normal reliable performance as Scotland gained a three crucial points with a 2-1 win over Iceland at Hampden Park. Cardiff's Ross McCormack and Hibernian's Steven Fletcher were the heroes for the Tartan Army.

Jamie Ward was again an unused substitute as Northern Ireland made it two wins from two with a 1-0 success over Slovenia at Windsor Park.

The experience of being involved with Nigel Worthington's men will no doubt have helped the development of the former Chesterfield striker.

Meanwhile, Justin Haber was a busy man as Malta lost 3-0 against Hungary in the Ferenc Puskas Stadium. David Cotterill made a brief cameo appearance, but couldn't stop Wales going down to a 2-0 defeat against Germany at the Millennium Stadium.
