Still talking

Posted on: Thu 18 Dec 2008

Kevin Blackwell has confirmed that United are still in negotiations with Paddy Kenny about a new contract.

The Irish International goalkeeper surprised his manager with reported quotes in yesterday's national press that he thought the Club was dragging its feet on the issue, but Blackwell insists that all should be done in good time:

"There is no bad atmosphere between us. Paddy is important to United and I would like to sign him up for longer as soon as we can, but you can't put a time on when if talks are ongoing.

"The good thing is that we are. He has put a figure out, we have looked at it but agreement is dependent on many factors.

"He has eighteen months on his contract left so he isn't going anywhere. If we win promotion to the Premiership I think we could probably agree the figure he has suggested, but if we don't there is some serious thinking to do."
