Kyle Naughton woke up on the day he could be given his first England cap with a warning from his club manager.
Kevin Blackwell will be in attendance hoping to see Naughton win an U21 place against the Czech Republic at Bramall Lane, but remains adamant that the Sheffield born defender must still work hard to maximise his potential:
"He can get bigger, get stronger, get quicker, he can't just sit there thinking that he has made it. An opportunity like this could be the beginning of an exciting run.
"If you stand still in this game, you get passed, but Kyle is capable of keeping going and passing many others on the way if he applies himself."
Although Naughton is a new name to most in the game he is not without senior experience, albeit over the border ion Scotland:
"Kyle has been developing nicely for about eighteen months, not just the last few weeks in our first team.
"He may be new to the Championship but he played a lot of games in the SPL for Gretna last season, and some at the biggest clubs so he is no stranger to pressure situations.
"But he is level-headed and won't get carried away by this accolade which is also a feather in the cap for our Academy and people like Ron Reid and Kevin Fogg.
"They and our other coaches have helped him and Kyle will be the first to appreciate that."
