Former Blade Curtis Woodhouse looks set to bring down the curtain on his footballing career for good, as he intends to pursue his boxing aspirations full-time.
Woodhouse, who is currently on the transfer list at Rushden & Diamonds, told BBC Radio Sheffield that he has fallen out of love with the beautiful game and now seems certain go full-time in the ring:
"I am on the transfer list at the moment but they can't find any buyers and I am probably going to pack in after New Year.
"I want to fully turn my attentions to boxing and I don't see the point in carrying on with something I don't want to do.
"I am going full-time and have recently secured a decent twelve month sponsorship deal, which will hopeful provide for the family and mean that I can solely focus on my boxing career.
"I am looking to tie up a few loose ends and then will be it with regards to football."
Looking back on his last success against David Kirk, Woodhouse was happy to overcome his dogged opponent and admits he is becoming more disciplined with each fight:
"I want to tone up and fight again in January. In my last fight, Kirk came out all guns blazing and I gradually wore him down.
"Round after round he was getting weaker and after the fifth I knew I was well on top, resulting in a stoppage in the sixth.
"I have been working hard on my temperament but it is tough to adapt. It isn't easy when you are getting smacked around the mouth and sometimes I do see the red mist, but I have never been knocked down during sparring or a fight - touch wood!"
