Alex Sabella today sends his thoughts from Argentina on settling into life in Sheffield - and the intriguing possibility of a return to manage in this country...
"It is all about lifestyle and behaviour. People in Sheffield call United the Blades, and Sheffield is the city of the Blades so there was a natural feel for football to the place. I remember going to the shops a lot during my time there, and remember how they closed early, at about 5.30pm because it was getting dark, whereas in Argentina they stay open later. It was just a matter of being flexible enough to a change in routines.
"I adapted perfectly to life in England because I was relaxed and still pretty young. People are often scared to move from home, particularly such a long way like I did, but I couldn't miss the opportunity. Remember, I was a professional, and never found it a problem. English football is home to one of the most powerful leagues in the world. The Premier League has got a lot of stars and there is a lot of money there. It would be a big honour - and a big challenge - for me to maybe manage in the Premier League one day.
"To the supporters of United I want to say hello and thank you for the time I had with the club, for the satisfaction they gave me. I remember them for giving me the chance to mature as a player and a person. I hope to see them at Bramall Lane soon."
Currently manager of Estudiantes, champions of South America, Alex will be with his team at Bramall Lane this Sunday when they take on the Blades in a friendly at 4pm.
