Former Blade Alan Wright has joined the chorus of approval for Blackpool's astonishing elevation to the top flight last Saturday.
His former club clinched promotion in dramatic fashion, making it a double celebration for the defender as his current club, Fleetwood Town, has also been promoted from the Conference North to the Conference Premier.
"It is a terrific achievement, built on attacking football and the ability to score goals. They have played some entertaining stuff, a bit like West Brom, with two attacking full-backs and a midfielder dropping into a holding role, usually Vaughan," Wright told Sky Sports News before Blackpool's victory homecoming parade.
As unlikely members of the Premiership next season Blackpool will have to astound the critics again to survive but Wright refuses to write them off:
"The forwards will be the key because they win you matches whereas defenders help stop you losing them. If they can add one or two I believe that they will score goals at the top level."
The Seasiders have other pressing problems, not least trying to upgrade Bloomfield Road to cope with the extra demands, both of their own fans and of the opposition, after averaging only around 8,000 last season:
"Providing extra capacity is massively important to them. More fans mean more revenue and the big Premiership clubs will want to bring thousands of supporters."
