Death of ex Blade

Posted on: Mon 02 Nov 2009

Just hours before United face Newcastle, both clubs were saddened to hear of the death of a former Blade and Magpie.

Keith Kettleborough, 74, passed away on Monday morning.

The Rotherham-born inside right played 183 times for the Blades, scoring 24 goals between the years of 1960 and 1966.

He moved to St James' Park in January 1966 for a fee of £22,500 and was a member of Sir Alf Ramsey's 'shadow' squad for the 1966 World Cup finals. He made 30 league appearances for Newcastle.

He later played for Doncaster Rovers and Chesterfield before moving into non-league.

Both clubs would like to offer condolences to Keith's family and friends.
