Best wishes Geoff

Posted on: Fri 10 Oct 2008

Sheffield United would like to offer best wishes to former striker Geoff Horsfield, who has revealed that he is suffering from testicular cancer.

Geoff, 34, left the club at the end of last season after his contract expired. He played just five times for the Blades, scoring his only goal at Milton Keynes Dons in the Carling cup last year.

Geoff told the Daily Mirror on Friday: ""I was diagnosed last Friday and I'm going in for surgery next Thursday.

"The surgeon has told me that this is the end of my professional career, but that's at the back of my mind now."

Geoff also played for Halifax Town, Scarborough, Fulham, Birmingham, Wigan and West Bromwich Albion, whilst with United he had loan spells with Leeds United, Leicester City and Scunthorpe United.
