Sheffield United have announced details of a new operational structure.

It will be based on five key divisions of the Blades business following a review by Chairman Kevin McCabe.

The new executive team sees Jason Rockett remaining as an executive director but stepping up to concentrate on major property projects for both Sheffield United and Mr McCabe's Scarborough Group International which has worldwide property interests.

Mr Rockett, will continue to oversee key projects on behalf of the Blades including the continued expansion of the Bramall Lane Stadium facilities and the club's inclusion for Sheffield's submission to be a host ground for England's 2018 World Cup bid.

Away from the Championship club he will assist in the leadership of the newly formed Scarborough Development Group's multi-million pound property development business focusing on food stores and office projects across the UK.

Assisting United's senior management team in the short to medium term is club vice president and York-based businessman Stephen McBride who becomes an executive director of Sheffield United plc. Mr McBride will work with other executive directors to focus on supporting a successful first team and emphasising continued off field profitability.

Stephen has more than 20 years of experience as a senior director in a series of international companies. He has been a colleague and associate of Kevin McCabe for more than 10 years and brings a wealth of management expertise to the team.

Mr McCabe said: "The aim is to enhance Sheffield United's efficiency and the club's future plans for improvement and expansion to the benefit of our football activities. The reorganisation will enable senior executives to utilise their unique skills in key areas for the next stage of the development of the club.

"At the heart of the changes is one overriding objective - to provide the structure and resources whereby we are successful on-the-field and ultimately competing as an effective force in the Premier League."

Mr McCabe added: "This is an exciting time and as part of the reorganisation Jason will take up greater responsibilities within the larger group (Scarborough) particularly in relation to our property development and workout businesses."

Mr Rockett, a former director of Mr McCabe's old Scarborough Development Group which was part of £800m plus acquisition by Australian property investment group VALAD, said: "I look forward to continuing to play a key role in the future of Sheffield United coupled with the new role of developing property opportunities for the Scarborough Group.

"I am proud to have played a part in the significant progress made by the club over the past four years.

"We have a fantastically loyal and passionate fan base with average crowds amongst the highest in the Championship. The Club now has an international standard class stadium and first-class football infrastructure both home and abroad, as well as a robust off field business strategy which will continue to underpin investment in the first team.

"Sheffield United's aim remains to achieve success on the pitch and a return to the Premier League. There will be no lack of effort throughout the club in trying to achieve this goal," added Mr Rockett.
