Boss delight at new Beattie deal

Posted on: Fri 27 Jan 2012

Danny Wilson says it is fantastic that James Beattie has agreed a deal with the Blades until the end of the season.

"James will sign until the end of the season, which is fantastic, now we can really concentrate on getting him into shape and to contribute more to the team," said the Blades boss.

"It has been tough with James, considering his fitness when he joined and how the team has played since.

"Listening to James speak you understand he is very committed and focused because the opportunities he has had to move elsewhere have been vast.

"I think the fans have played a major part in his decision. I also feel the players made him want to stay."

Beattie, who has made seven substitute appearances since rejoining the Blades in November, has made a massive impact in the dressing room according to his boss, who is promising him a rigorous training schedule whilst the striker serves out his three-match ban following his red card at The Valley.

"His contribution behind the scenes is underestimated, obviously his playing contribution is the most important, but in the dressing he is a big influence amongst a quiet squad.

"James is operating between 50-70% but we can concentrate on things now, despite the ban, and we have to work him hard and he appreciates that will be tough."
