Beattie set to stay

Posted on: Thu 26 Jan 2012

James Beattie has agreed a new deal to remain with the Blades until the end of the season.

The popular striker, 33, has made just seven substitute appearances since rejoining in November but has had a positive impact on the team.

Boss Danny Wilson commented: "He's a quality player, we are delighted to have him for what he brings us on and off the pitch."

Beattie is suspended for the next three games after being shown a red card at Charlton Athletic last weekend but is expected to boost United's striking options from mid-February.

In his first spell with the Blades, between 2007 and 2009, Beattie scored 34 goals in 60 starts.
