Leon Britton says three points in Gary Speed's first home game in charge would be the perfect tonic for the manager and players.

Britton felt last Sunday's 1-0 defeat at The Riverside was harsh on the Blades and he is sure that the elusive first win is just around the corner:

"There were signs of improvement at Middlesbrough and you could see elements of what the new manager wants to change.

"It probably wasn't the most exciting game to watch I guess, but we should have certainly come away with what would have been a well earned point.

"There is a great team spirit here and it is a really close knit bunch of lads. We want that first win soon and there is no better opportunity than on Saturday at Bramall Lane."

Ahead of the weekend's clash, Britton, who has been gathering some helpful information on the visitors, says morale is high and is adamant the players haven't been affected by the change in manager:

"The transition has been pretty smooth because the new manager already knew the players. Everybody has a clean slate now but it doesn't really affect me, although it does help when the coach just moves up to be the Gaffer.

"The manager and John Carver have put on some really sharp sessions this week which the lads have enjoyed. There is always some pressure on you when you are at a club like this and we are eager to put the QPR game out of everyone's mind.

"I spoke to a few of the Swansea lads because they played Preston the other week and beat them 4-0. Since then though they have beaten Portsmouth so we know it will be a tough game without a doubt."
