The striker, who opened United's account in the 1-1 draw at Cardiff City last weekend, missed a midweek international friendly with an ankle problem but is hoping to be in Kevin Blackwell's plans for the first home game of the campaign.
"It was good to get off the mark and start with a goal and was pleased with the result in a hard game," said Ched. "My ankle felt a bit sore afterwards, it is an old injury that was causing me a bit of trouble during the game.
"I met up with the Welsh squad after our game but after seeing the physios it was decided that I wouldn't be fit to play - it's disappointing, it would have been an ideal game to play in for a striker."
However, since reporting back to Bramall Lane, Evans has been racing to shake off the complaint to keep his place in United's forward line.
"I was back in full training on Friday and want to play as much as possible. I didn't start as much as I would have liked last season and it was frustrating. This is a big season for me, I want to play regularly and be flying on full cylinders as soon as possible."
The return of Paddy Kenny in a QPR shirt will add a little intensity to the fixture but it is of little consequence to Evans, who adds:
"The game will be a bit spicy and Paddy will probably get a bit of abuse, but he will be expecting it. For us, though, we are just focusing on getting a result - it's important to kick off our home games with a win. "
