Nyron Nosworthy made a statement about his own lofty ambition by choosing to rejoin the Blades.

United's latest signing put pen to paper on a year long loan deal from Sunderland this week and Chief Executive Trevor Birch, who negotiated the move, recognised that the player made it clear he was expecting to play in a successful side:

"We were delighted to get him because we are obviously short in defence, so to bring Nyron back is a big statement from the player himself, and the club, because he is a quality player.

"If we achieve promotion we would look at signing Nyron because of his ability. He has committed himself to a year-long loan contract and there is no recall in January so he is here to stay for the season.

"I would like to think the re-signing of our core players was instrumental in Nyron wanting to come back because he had other opportunities, but when you compare this with other squads in this league I think ours is as good as any and it gives us a real chance."
