Former Blades players Mark Todd and Matt Duke are taking part in a local football-themed run in support of raising awareness and funds for male cancers.
The Keep Your Eye on the Ball Run for Men is 5km or 10km runs being promoted by Everyman, The Football Association and The Professional Footballers' Association to help raise vital funds towards Everyman's research into prostate and testicular cancers.
Following the success of the Keep Your Eye on the Ball Run in London, Everyman is excited to offer football fans in the Sheffield area the opportunity to take part in either the 5km or 10km run around Rother Valley Country Park on Sunday 18 July.
Last year more than 350 runners completed the London course and helped raise over £40,000. The organisers hope to do the same in Sheffield but they need the help of Blades fans.
All funds raised from the event go directly into Everyman's vital cancer research, some of which is carried out at the Everyman centre; Europe's first and only research centre dedicated to understanding prostate and testicular cancer, developing improved treatments and, ultimately, finding cures.
Hull City goalkeeper, former Blade and testicular cancer survivor, Matt Duke, has been involved in the run since it started.
"Taking part in the Keep Your Eye on the Ball run in London over the past few years has been a really fantastic experience. It gives lads a chance to get together and do something fun, while at the same time supporting a great cause. Testicular cancer is obviously an issue close to my heart so you can bet I will be at the first run in Sheffield!"
Duke has enlisted the help of friend and former United midfielder Mark Todd, who will also take part in the run. Captain Blade is also expected to be in attendance.
