"It is an unbelievable opportunity considering where I was last season. To get this chance was too good to pass up and now I must make the most of it.
"The Gaffer has shown a lot of faith in me and I am delighted to have been given the chance to come to a club like this, given the stature and ambition, and I feel more than capable of playing at this level.
"The word potential has been used a lot throughout my career, but now is the time to put the words into action. I have grown up a lot recently and done a lot of self-reflecting. This opportunity is my last chance and I am adamant that I am going to grab it with both hands."
The former Leeds trainee says he owes Crewe, and in particular Dario Gradi, plenty of gratitude after a loan spell at Gresty Road last term, which made the 22-year-old realise it was time to get his house in order:
"I have suffered a nightmare last couple of years to be honest. I had a couple of serious injuries, a poor disciplinary record and more managers than hot meals, but I didn't help myself either.
"Playing in League Two was a good kick up the backside and one I really needed. I am fully focused now on reaching the standards that have always been expected of me."
