Stewart leaves for Greece

Posted on: Tue 22 Jun 2010

Jordan Stewart has left Sheffield United by mutual agreement.

The 28 year old left sided defender/midfielder is joining Greek club Skoda Xanthi just less than a year after the deal which brought him to Bramall Lane from Derby County with Lee Hendrie moving in the opposite direction.

Stewart competed with Andy Taylor for much of the season and clocked up fifteen league starts with eight more appearances from the bench.

Kevin Blackwell has made it clear that he is focusing on adding defensive strength to his squad and says:

"Jordan was a 100% trier and I wish him well in this new part of his career, but his departure opens up possibilities for us and I am considering options to provide competition and depth in the left-back position."
