March 2010
The new manager syndrome came into play in March's first game - the long trip to Selhurst Park - where Paul Hart prodded a reaction from his Crystal Palace players, particularly goalkeeper Julian Speroni who kept United at bay.
The re-arranged trip to Peterborough just three days later was one of the season's low points as the winless away run continued and the Blades picked up more injuries, this time Ched Evans and Jamie Ward were forced out of the action.
Richard Cresswell's hoodoo over QPR enabled United to avoid defeat to Neil Warnock's new charges whilst the highlight of March was the emphatic victory over fellow play-off chasers, Blackpool.
Another new face, this time Paul Connolly, was brought in on the day of the fixture against the Seasiders and he contributed to a clean sheet, whilst at the other end two more from Cresswell and a rare strike from Nick Montgomery helped the Blades back up to seventh in the table, leapfrogging Blackpool.
Plans for the next game, at local rivals Doncaster, were disrupted by Blackburn's recall of goalkeeper Mark Bunn and Kevin Blackwell moved instantly to secure the services of Steve Simonsen to take over in goal. The Blades recovered from conceding an early goal to pick up a point, thanks to James Harper's late finish.
A long midweek trip to Cardiff followed with Blackwell's squad again decimated through injury. Home grown Matt Lowton made his debut as a late substitute and protected a point with a clearance after Stephen Quinn's second half goal.
However, the efforts in South Wales were spoiled by a home defeat in the next game - against bogey team Scunthorpe - when a deflected goal decided the Sunday lunchtime encounter.
