Even an unseasonal torrential July downpour couldn't spoil the occasion of the proud unveiling of the statues of Joe Shaw and Derek Dooley at Bramall Lane on Friday night.
A short clip of the unveiling is available to the right for free. Subscribers can watch the full speeches and tributed on BladesPlayer.TV
Supporters braved the incessant rain to join with family members of the two legends, officials of the club and special guests to hear tributes - starting with Kevin McCabe - before the widows pulled the covers from the bronzes to applause from the patient audience.
The size of the figures seemed to surprise onlookers and there has been a steady stream of fans who have since visited just to look or take photographs.
Kevin McCabe's original idea has taken three years to come to fruition but the statues, situated in the middle of the car park level with main reception, give an even more impressive look to that aspect of the stadium.
There were speeches about the contribution made by both Derek and Joe, and a poem about the latter which was contributed by a member of the Senior Blades.
Invited guest included former players Alan Hodgkinson, Fred Furniss, Len Badger, Tommy Hoyland, Ted Hemsley, and Tony Currie along with former Owls Peter Eustace, Brian Joicey, David Layne and David Ford.
Current Steel City managers Kevin Blackwell and Alan Irvine were in attendance along with Gary Speed, Sam Ellis, Chris Morgan, Jamie Ward, Nick Montgomery, Stephen Quinn and Richard Cresswell,
BBC's Harry Gration, Sheffield MP Clive Betts, Sir David Richards and Geoff Thompson watched the unveiling before joining the rest of the guests for a celebratory dinner afterwards in the Platinum Suite, and listened to personal tributes from Robert Jackson.
