Posted on: Mon 09 May 2011

British Universities & Colleges Sport (BUCS) Mars Football Championship Final at Bramall Lane.

Sheffield United will host the best of university football as the men's and women's BUCS Mars Football Championship finals head to Bramall Lane next week. Leeds Met Carnegie will take on University of Northumbria in the women's match at 1pm with Edinburgh University facing UWE Hartpury at 6pm to decide the men's champions on Wednesday 11th May 2011.

All Sheffield United season ticket holders can watch the games free of charge.

Over 450 men's football teams entered the BUCS Mars football structure this season with 16 qualifying through to the BUCS Mars football Championship knockout. The University of Edinburgh could be the surprise package after progressing from tier one all the way through to the Championship final. Whilst 2009 finalists UWE Hartpury only dropped two points in their first seven games so are sure to be strong contenders.

Leeds Met have been one of the strongest teams in university women's football in recent years, but with 155 women's teams in the BUCS Mars football structure this season the competition is increasing year on year. Leeds Met Carnegie must be seen as favourites but this is cup football and Northumbria will be desperate to be crowned BUCS Champions.
