The paperwork to rubber stamp David Cotterill's permanent switch to Swansea City was completed on Thursday afternoon, after a £600,000 deal was agreed between the two clubs.

Cotterill has made five appearances for The Swans since arriving in Wales in late November and recently scored his first goal for the club in the FA Cup tie at Leicester City.

The Welsh international will now compete for a regular starting berth in Paulo Sousa's team with former Blades loanee Nathan Dyer.

During his stint as a full-time member of United's squad, Cotterill became renowned for his calmness from the penalty spot and during United's push for promotion last season he netted four times from twelve yards.

Meanwhile in the early part of this campaign, the Welshman scored a vital equaliser against WBA, after a wonderful strike in the 3-1 success over Reading at The Madejski.
