Cressy becomes a Blade

Posted on: Tue 05 Jan 2010

The Blades have completed the permanent signing of Richard Cresswell from Stoke City for an undisclosed fee.

The 32 year old - who netted against QPR on Sunday at the Lane - has been on loan since the end of September and he was widely expected to sign a full contract in the New Year.

The ever willing and experienced striker has battled against a painful rib injury for United and has still managed three goals, in nine starts.

With injury and suspension affecting Darius Henderson, Henri Camera and Ched Evans over the last few weeks Cresswell has proved an invaluable and versatile presence for Kevin Blackwell who said:

"You know what you get with Richard - it is 100% every time he turns out and his knowledge of this division makes him an important presence for us."
