New keeper on debut
Deadline day loan addition Carl Ikeme says he is delighted to have joined the Blades and was even happier to start his stint at the Lane with a win against Bristol City at the weekend.
Ikeme, signed from Wolves on Thursday, replaced fellow loan stopper Mark Bunn between the sticks at Ashton Gate and played his part as a Darius Henderson hat-trick secured United three valuable points in the West Country:
"I thought we did well and although it would have been nice to start with a clean sheet at least we managed to get the win.
"The lads at the back defended well and I was positive, making a few saves in the process.
"It was a bit of a rollcoaster at the end and it was a massive relief when Hendo got the winner and he certainly deserved his treble."
The 23-year-old goalkeeper, who is no stranger to loan spells, believes he couldn't be in a better place as he looks to show onlookers what he has to offer:
"I feel sharp because I have played a few games for Charlton recently, but after leaving there last Tuesday I was delighted to know that Sheffield United were in for me on the Wednesday."
"I can't get a much better club to come to on loan and I am looking forward to getting some games under my belt."
