United have completed the signing of free agent Henri Camara.
The Senegal international striker has agreed a deal with the Blades until the end of the season.
"At a time when we have got so many major players out through injury, he will bring plenty of experience and a bit of quality to the squad," said boss Kevin Blackwell.
"He is a proven goalscorer and although he will take a bit of time to get fit, he will be able to give us cameo roles from the bench to begin with."
Camara, 32, has a wealth of experience after playing in France and Switzerland, whilst on these shores he has played for Wolves, Celtic, Southampton, Wigan, West Ham and Stoke.
He has been without a club since leaving Wigan in the summer and trialled with the Blades earlier in the campaign, playing in a reserve encounter against Sheffield Wednesday.
Camara, who trained with the Blades on Thursday, added: "I am keen to play and score goals and although I am lacking a bit of match fitness I am confident that I can make a difference.
"I wanted to stay in England, I have played a lot of my football over here and I like it. This is a good move for me and I am desperate to get playing and be involved again.
"I have signed until the end of the season and if all goes well I'd hope that can be made longer."
Camara has played 98 times for Senegal and is the nation's leading scorer with 30 goals. He played at the 2002 World Cup, helping Senegal to the quarter-final stage, which included a famous victory over France.
