Eagles want to fly at the Lane

Posted on: Fri 16 Oct 2009

The prospect of the city's Rugby League club playing at Bramall Lane in the future took a step forward with a press conference at the stadium on Friday afternoon.

Sheffield Eagles officials confirmed their interest in playing fixtures at United's ground, along with the intention of promoting Bramall Lane as a venue for showpiece Cup-ties and International games.

Sheffield United have agreed in principle but at this stage stress that such an arrangement still requires formal agreements ratified by the Football League, The Football Association and the Rugby Football Association, all of which have significant criteria to satisfy.
