Duty calls for internationals

Posted on: Wed 07 Oct 2009

It promises to be a busy week for a few Blades players as the international week gets underway, although injury seems set to rule two out of action.

Welsh duo Ched Evans and David Cotterill are in John Toshack's plans for 2010 World Cup qualifiers against Finland and Lichtenstein, although Evans is also in the U21s squad that faces Bosnia at the weekend.

Justin Haber, currently at Hungarian sister club Ferencvaros, is included in the Malta squad for a friendly with Angola, prior to a qualifier against Portugal.

Keith Treacy is expected to miss Republic Of Ireland U21s qualifiers against Georgia and Switzerland, whilst Jamie Ward will have to watch as his Northern Ireland team-mates faces a difficult game in the Czech Republic.

Meanwhile, United's Academy have received a massive boost as versatile Callum McFadzean, who played a starring role in the Blades Milk Cup success earlier this year, was named in the England squad for Thursday's Victory Shield clash against Wales at Huish Park in Yeovil.
