Injury update

Posted on: Thu 01 Oct 2009

Keith Treacy and Matt Kilgallon are both doubts for Saturday's meeting with Doncaster Rovers and a physio's recommendation will determine their chances.

Fears that Treacy had suffered cruciate ligament damage proved unfounded after a scan showed no damage but caution will be the watchword on what sort of training he will put in on Friday when Paul Teather will assess them.

Kilgallon's ankle injury prevented him from training on Thursday and wait so see is again the theory before coming to a decision.

Whilst selection is therefore delayed because of their condition, the United management are confident that the squad can cope if they are ruled out.

"It is not affecting our preparation because we have got good players to come in if needed, " said Sam Ellis who says that the decision - after the Wembley final - to go with a thinner, better quality squad is paying off:

"You need luck, of course, and have to hold your nerve but we think it is working. Our results overall have held up and I think only Newcastle have lost fewer matches."
