Duo move out

Posted on: Tue 01 Sep 2009

United have this morning confirmed the outgoing transfers of Leigh Bromby and David Carney.

The duo have left Bramall Lane with Kevin Blackwell and the football management team attempting to add new faces before the transfer window slams shut at 5pm on Tuesday.

Bromby, who has played just once this season, the Carling Cup defeat to Port Vale, has joined Yorkshire neighbours Leeds United.

The 29-year-old versatile defender was only signed in the summer after a loan spell at the end of last season but as part of deal it was agreed that he could move on if he was not guaranteed first-team football.

Australian international, Carney, meanwhile, has switched to the Dutch Eredivisie and linked up with former England manager Steve McClaren.

He has signed for FC Twente for an undisclosed fee where he is expected to play Europa League football in a bid to be selected for Australia's World Cup squad next summer.
