CONCACAF president and FIFA vice-President Jack Warner was given a unique welcome to Bramall Lane with two special football matches.
Mr Warner came up against Blades legend Brian Deane in a game of table football while visiting the club's Legends of the Lane museum.
He was then given a tour of the venue to look at the history of Bramall Lane, United and Sheffield FC, the world's first football club.
Mr Warner went on to watch the Trinidad and Tobago Under20s beat a young Sheffield United XI, which also included Lee Hendrie, Ryan France and Kyel Reid, 2-1 in an exhibition match at Bramall Lane.
The young Soca Warriors visited Sheffield as part of their preparations for the Under20s FIFA World Championships in Egypt next month.
Mr Warner said: "Sheffield's football history is unparalleled with anywhere else in the world. England has a special place and a rich history in the sport so it is great to see a museum like this.
"The hospitality in Sheffield has been excellent. Everyone has shown terrific kindness since we arrived and it is a great pleasure to be here."
Following the tour Mr Warner enjoyed a reception with United directors, football referee Uriah Rennie, Owls chief executive Nick Parker, Sheffield and Hallamshire FA chief executive James Hope-Gill, Sheffield City Council chief executive John Mothersole and Sheffield FC chairman Richard Tims.
Simon Argall, operations director at Sheffield United, added: "We were very honoured that someone of Mr Warner's calibre in world football has visited our club and seen the facilities we have available in Sheffield.
"We were pleased Mr Warner has enjoyed his time in Sheffield and got to experience the history of the club.
"It has been great to welcome the young Trinidad and Tobago team and their Football Federation to Bramall Lane. Everyone was impressed with the team's technical ability and speed, scoring two excellent goals."
As part of his visit to the Legends of the Lane museum, Mr Warner was shown the original hand written rules of football, as well as the world's first football trophy - the Youdan Cup.
